Reports reaching the Daily Observer reveal that The Gambia is poised to benefit from a project worth of 35000 Euro, courtesy of the Prince Clause Fund.
The money is geared towards the restoration of the historic James Island and related CFAO building at Albreda as well as for the restoration of the Stone Circle museum at Kerr Batch, Niani District.
According to a press release sent in from the National Council for Arts and Culture (NCAC), the Netherlands based Prince Clause Fund has as its objective “to expand insight into cultures and to promote interaction between culture and development.”
The release stated that the assistance to The Gambia is part of the Fund’s cultural emergency response programme that seeks to provide a global first aid for cultural heritages that have been either damaged or destroyed by man or natural disasters. Restoration work on the stated sites will be handled by the NCAC, the release concludes.
