New PRO for GAF

Reports reaching the Daily Observer revealed that 2nd Lt Omar B Bojang has been appointed the new public relations officer of the Gambia Armed Forces (GAF) with immediate effect.

This development came following Major Lamin Gano’s departure to UK last Friday to undertake postgraduate studies on peace and conflict resolution at the Bradford University in UK, sponsored by President Alhaji Dr Yahya Jammeh.

In an interview with the Daily Observer shortly before his departure, Major Gano, thanked the Almighty Allah for giving him the strength, health, and the capacity to serve the GAF.

Major Gano expressed profound gratitude and appreciation to President Jammeh, who is also the commander-in-chief of GAF, for his kindness and generosity and for all the good things he is doing for the Gambian people.

“I wish to acknowledge the great leadership of the chief of Defence Staff of the Gambia Armed Forces, Major General Lang Tombong Tamba for creating the conducive environment which has enabled us to serve smoothly.  I look forward to coming back soon and continuing from where I stopped,’’  Major Gano remarked.

It could be recalled that President Jammeh, during the recent passing out of GAF soldiers, promised to send GAF members for studies abroad.

When contacted, 2nd Lt Omar B Bojang, the newly appointed PRO thanked Major General Tamba for the trust and confidence bestowed in him and promised to live up to expectations.  

Prior to his appointment, 2nd Lt Bojang was the officer commanding Alpha Company at Kudang camp in the Central River Region (CRR).

Holder of a BA in history and development studies, University of The Gambia, Lt Bojang has also undergone military training at the Gambia Armed Forces Training School at the Guards Battalion in Fajara and did the Basic Infantry Officer Course in Virginia (USA), as well as the Logistics Officer Course, North Carolina (USA).
