Demba Savage switches to Finnish Premier League![]() Friday, September 12, 2008 Gambian striker Demba Savage has signed a one-year loan deal with Finnish first division side FC Honka from second division KPV Kokkola, Gambia Sports online has revealed. The 19-year old crafted forward joined from Gambian first division side the Gambia Ports Authority in 2006 to the Finnish second tier club. In his first season he mostly played with KPV's reserve team, but in 2007, he took his place in the first team. Savage who has only one cap to his name for the Gambia has joined compatriots Cherno Samba and Dawda Bah of FC Haka and HJK respectively in the first division.
It was promoted into the Finnish premier division (Veikkausliiga), for the first time in its history, at the end of the 2005 season. The club plays its home matches at Tapiolan Urheilupuisto. Fc Honka are currently playing in the UEFA Cup first round where they will travel to Spain on the 16th September in their first leg with Racing Club de Santerder with the return leg in Finland in a fortnight time.
