Tight Chase in National Volleyball League

Wednesday, August 6, 2008

The top flight teams currently chasing for the title of the 2008 National Volleyball league Interior and Old Jeshwang over the weekend increased their points to 12 with interior still edging on a single set.

Interior collected maximum points in their fifth game against falling L/K Boys when their opponents failed to turn up to the ground as scheduled on the fixtures. This resulted in the organising committee awarding three points and three sets to Interior.

LK Boys are obviously out of the race. They have three points and six sets and are only just ahead of bottom place occupants UTG, who are yet to collect a point.

Closest contenders, Old Jeshwang defeated Betterness 3-1 cruising to the top and level on points with Interior.

They could be potential winners of the league as they have an opportunity to make it to top due to the fact that they have a game in hand over Betterness from the first round matches. This game is scheduled to take place on Thursday August 7th in Banjul. Avoiding defeat can surely keep them on course.

Betterness are also on six points with nine sets in four matches.
