Slok Air In Legal Tussle

Slok Air International Gambia Limited is engulfed in a legal battle with Castle Oil Limited at the Kanifing Magistrates’ Court presided over by Senior Magistrate Abdoulie Mbackeh.

The plaintiff Castle Oil is claiming from the defendant Slok Air International the sum of $12,600 being the unpaid balance of money in respect of aviation fuel Jet A1 supplied to them by Castle Oil. And the sum of D30, 000 being general damages for breach of contract, interest and cost.

According to the particulars of the claim, the plaintiff is a company incorporated under the laws of The Gambia and carrying on business as marketers of petroleum products. It added that the defendant is an airline company that has its offices situated along Kairaba Avenue in the Kanifing Municipality.

The claim further indicated that between 18th and 20th of April 2008, the plaintiff supplied the defendant $39,960 worth of Jet A1 aviation fuel as per 4 invoices/ flight receipts endorsed by the defendant’s employees. The plaintiff pleads the invoices/ flight receipt.

It states further that the defendant paid $27,360 to the plaintiff out of the said sum of $39,960, leaving an outstanding balance of $12,600. In the premises the plaintiff has suffered loss and damage, thus resulting in the plaintiff claiming as per particulars of claim.

When the case was called on Tuesday, the plaintiff Castle Oil Counsel Badou BS Conteh told the court that his client’s fear is that the defendant has closed its office, and the plaintiff may not recover its money. As a result, he urged the court to give them an earlier date for the claim to be heard.
