GFA set Samger record straight

The Gambia Football Association have sharply reacted to the complaints made by Samger coach that some of his players are being forced to put the national team before their club even though the (players) are owned by the club and not the national team.

Coach Jane Joof has been pouring  severe criticism on the national football’s governing body and the head coach of the Gambia Under 20 team, Rubinazzi, after playing three league matches without three key players who are currently with the Under 20 team.
 
He complained that the absence of the players - Haruna Jammeh, Pa Badjie and Emmanuel Gomez - is heavily felt by the team, noting that should Samger miss out on their first league title in their first season in top flight, the Football Association will have their share of the blame.

However, an official at the Gambia Football Association told Observer Sports that Samger have no cause to complain.

“The regulations state that if a club miss five or more players, then your games should be suspended. But Samger are missing less than this number,” Jammeh Bojang, Secretary General of Gambia Football Association told Observer Sports yesterday.

“These regulations were made by the clubs themselves. In fact people should know that GFA is an association of clubs and not individuals.”
