Back and Next - Back and NextNAPSA to embark on nationwide tour

The National Patriotic Students’ Association (NAPSA), will on Sunday, July 7, 2008, embark on a nationwide tour of schools.
The aim of the tour is to sensitise students on the President’s back to the land call, and also to discuss with them issues concerning students and young people such as patriotism for national development, discipline in schools, quality education, illegal migration, among others.
Speaking to the Young Observer anchorman, Modou Alieu Jallow, chairperson of NAPSA, said the tour will begin at Essau Senior Secondary School in the North Bank Region (NBR), then they will proceed to Kerewan, Farafenni, Janjangbureh, Basse and Brikamaba, Soma, Mansakonko, coming down towards the Kombos.
He revealed that the Regional Education directors will serve as the guest speakers in their respective regions, while the principals of the various schools to be visited, will give the welcoming remarks.
“There will also be a drama presentation in each school that we visit, and the title of these dramas will be centered on the President’s back to the land call. As you know, we are already experiencing the rainy season and schools are coming to close soon, so we will advise the students to help their parents in their farm lands”, Mr Jallow further revealed.
Jallow also recalled that last year about 200 NAPSA members went to weed the President’s farm in Kanilai where they also secured their own farm. He disclosed that this year, they are expecting more than 200 students to work on their farm in Kanilai.
He thanked the Department of State for Basic and Secondary Education for their support to NAPSA at all times.
He commended President Jammeh for his unflinching support to NAPSA and for inviting NAPSA to join his delegation at the recently concluded ECOWAS Summit in Nigeria.
“In that summit, myself and our Secretary General Jestina Harding, represented NAPSA, upon receiving the invitation from the President and presently, some of our members have also joined him in his trip to Egypt,” Mr Jallow disclosed.
He thanked President Jammeh for his love, support, care and concern for Gambian students. He finally assured the President that the students are behind him.
