National Youth Parliament on Strategic Planning

Thursday, May 8, 2008

The National Youth Parliament (NYP) on Saturday, 3rd May 2008 began its first Strategic Planning process for the next five years. The process is being led by Mr Alieu Darboe, a Private Consultant and Senior Lecturer at the Management Development Institute with support from the Pro-Pag Advocacy Group.

Speaking at the launching, which was attended by a cross section of youth parliamentarians, Hon Lamin F Bojang, Speaker of NYP described it as a process intended to direct the programs of the organisation and strengthen its institutionalisation process.

This, he said, will help the organisation to be able to work effectively in addressing issues of young people in a strategic and organised manner in order to be able to achieve the dreams of the founding members of the NYP.

He stressed that the participation of the members in the process is crucial as they will be the ones to implement it. He therefore urged members to continue their involvement in the process.

In conclusion, Speaker Bojang expressed his organisation’s gratitude to the Pro-Pag Advocacy Group’s Executive Director, Dr Siga Jagne, and Mr Alieu Darboe for their commitment to the development of young people in supporting the NYP Strategic Plan.

This process will help enhance the capacity of youth parliamentarians in the realm of strategic planning as they move on with their preparations.
