Bishop Sanyang Passes to Eternity

Monseigneur Pierre Sagna CSSp, alias Uncle, Bishop Emeritus of the Diocese of St. Louis in Senegal, who lived the latter part of his life in The Gambia, died in Dakar on Sunday, a news release from the office of Bishop Ellison states.

According to the release, Bishop Sagna retired from his ministry as Bishop of St. Louis in 2003, after which he spent his retirement years in The Gambia, residing at the Holy Cross Church in Brusubi.

The release on behalf of the Catholic community in The Gambia expressed Bishop Ellison’s sincere sympathy to the Catholic community in Senegal through His Emminence, Theodore Adrian Cardinal Sarr and the Conference of Bishops of Senegal on the untimely demise of a brother in the Episcopate, and also to the Spiritan community in Senegal.

“May eternal rest be granted onto him, O Lord, and may perpetual light shine upon him forever. Amen”, the release added.

The release concluded that details about funeral arrangements would be communicated later.
