Gambian artistes in major compilation

In their quest to render support in the country’s music  industry Afric Alliance, an association comprising renowned Gambian show-bix promoters recently introduce Open Mic, a forum where Gambian will showcase their talents.

Afric- Alliance was formed in December 2006 by Black Lynx  and One Tribe Sound. The objective of the association is to promotes, unite and expose Gambian artistes internationally.

Fomerly held at  Christian Council , Open Mic is one of the hottest concerts in town. It has now been move to  Kairaba Avenue near Harry’s Supermarket  due to it’s nearness and proximity to the public and is exclusively free to the public.

Since it’s inception,  many sprouting  talents had participated in this monthly talents show that  continued o witnessed larges public turn out.

The first Open Mic  volume one compilation series will be out in mid July.

According to Abdou Karim Wagan Faye, member of Afric-Alliance team,  the monthly  show is one of its kind .

"It’s petty big show and has attracted  public attention. We  have over 100 artistes  that participate in our shows. We are not excluding mbalax or afromanding artistes but  we want to start with hip-hop and reggae, for now" he said.

He further revealed that, their first four episode is currently in the market. Mr Faye added that their main targets is to promote local Gambian stars  to the international music arena. " The DVDs and CDs cost only D200.This is the start record label where we use to release local artistes but  their products has to be good,"he said.

ThCDs are available in recording studios. Watch out for the next edition of Open Mic on May 30, 2008.
