Babylon 95 Trial Drags on

Tuesday, May 20, 2008

The trial of the 95 suspects in the ongoing Babylon case yet again suffered another setback yesterday at the Brikama Magistrates’ Court following an application by the state counsel.

The case, which was sheduled to continue before Senior Magistrate Edrisa Mbye, could not proceed as the state counsel, Buba Bojang, informed the court that they had discovered a pending land dispute at the High Court involving the community. He also applied to the court to allow them to photocopy records of proceedings to study it since so far evidence has been led.

The defence counsel, Antuman Gaye, did not object to the application.

The case was adjourned to 26 May, 2008 for continuation.
