Senegalese journalist extols Jammeh’s virtues

Veteran Senegalese journalist Magib Séne, who worked for over thirthy years with RTS (Radion Télévision Sénégalaise),  has extolled the virtues of  President Yahya Jammeh, saying the President has succeeded in laying a solid foundation for the country. Magiib Séne made the observation on Friday during an interview with the Daily Obsever.

He was impressed by the Gambian President’s principled stand on the respect of traditionnal values. He then noted that no solid nation could be built on a shaky foundation. ‘‘We should not accept our culture to be stamped out by an ungrateful modern world,’’he hinted.

He went on to say that efforts deployed by the Gambian leader to promote African traditions, through Kanilai Festival and Roots Homecoming Festival, constitute an illustration of his desire to reconcile Africans to their cultural universe.  "This is a faith of extraordinary commitment," says Magib Séne, who described how Panafricanism could be grounded in cultural unity.

He concluded by calling on Africans ‘‘to get into the path of this historical necessity’’ so as to advance a positive, constructive Panafricanism that will be conducted by leaders who are well rooted culturally.
