President Alhaji Dr Yahya Jammeh, Grand Commander of the Order of the Republic of The Gambia (GMRG), Thursday, conferred the national honours- Officer of the National Order of the Republic of The Gambia (ORG) Honorary, Member of the National Order of the Republic of The Gambia (MRG) and National Order of the Republic of The Gambia (RGM) to 23 distinguish personalities in recognition of their immense contribution to the socio-economic development of the nation.
The investiture ceremony held at the State House grounds attended by Vice-President Njie-Saidy, Speaker Fatoumatta Jahumpa-Ceesay, secretaries of state and family members of the personalities, is an annual national, historical and a thank you ceremony to the beneficiaries for their loyalty to the nation, dedication to duty and supportive to the APRC ruling party.
Officer of the National Order of the Republic of The Gambia (ORG)
The Gambian leader conferred the Officer of the National Order of the Republic of The Gambia (ORG) Honorary to Sedi Mahammed Ould Sedati, a prominent Mauritanian in The Gambia, for his immense contribution to strengthening the relations between the two sister countries, Justice Akomoya Agim, President of the Gambia Court of Appeal, in recognition of his role in maintaining the rule of law and justice as well as participating effectively towards the justice delivery system of The Gambia,
Hussein Tajidi and Hassan Akar both Lebanese-Gambian nationals, in recognition of their contribution to the socio-economic development of the nation, Roger Rossery Bakurin, Chief Fire Officer of The Gambia Fire and Ambulance Services, in recognition of his loyalty to the nation and dedication to duty, Fatoumatta Waggeh, Director of BAFROW in recognition of her contribution to women’s empowerment and the socio-economic development of the nation, Aji Fatou Bajan, in recognition of her distinctive services and contribution to national development, dedication to duty and loyalty to the ruling APRC party.

The Gambian leader also conferred the Member of the National Order of the Republic of The Gambia (MRG) to Fari Bensoda, Proprietor of Coconut Residence, in recognition of his significant contribution to the hotel industry in The Gambia, Emmanuel Pastor Forbes of the Abiding Word Ministries, in recognition of his exemplary services to The Gambia public sector,
Yusupha Baboucarr Dibba, Acting Director General of the Management Development Institute, in recognition of his services to the public services sector, Bolong Landing Sonko, deputy Executive Secretary of the Senegalo-Gambia Secretariat, in recognition of his contribution to the development of the nation and ensuring a successful AU Banjul summit hosting, Alhagie Ousman Ceesay, Chief of Protocol to the President of the Republic of The Gambia, in recognition of his distinctive public service record, loyalty to the nation and dedication to duty and Late Alhagie Omar Bun Jeng, an Islamic scholar, in recognition of his efforts towards developing Islam in the country.
