GPA Hope in Confederation Campaign in the Bins

Tuesday, March 4, 2008

The Gambia Ports Authority, who had very bright plans in the second leg of the 5th CAF confederation cup, has been overshadowed by their 3-0 defeat in Abidjan on Saturday.

Es Bingerville was determined to be the best candidate to emerge victorious in both ties. They were sure of doing it when they beat the Ferry Boys in Banjul 1-0 on Saturday 16th February 2008 in the first leg.

GPA, who thought that they could make up the defeat after losing at home, lost shamefully thereby ending what could have been a very interesting campaign. Their next opponents would have been Linguere of Senegal.

After both wins in the two ties, Es Bingerville has the maximum points needed in making it to the next stage. They will now meet Linguere FC of Senegal in the group stages.
