As part of its end of year activities The Gambia Immigration Department last Saturday organised a one off friendly football match between officers of the Immigration Department and the veteran players of the sister forces. The matches were played at Serrekunda East Mini Stadium.
The Football match started with the female category between the KMC team and Banjul. This game was a very interesting encounter as the Banjul team put a lot of pressure on the KMC side but the solid defence and strikers of the KMC side did not allow them to penetrate. In the 55th minute of the second half Fatou Fatty scored the winning goal for the KMC team. The match ended 1-0 in favour of KMC.
In the male category, which featured the Director General of Immigration Department Sako Drammeh, SOS Ousman Sonko, CDS Lang Tombong Tamba, Akram Shour, Saul Khan and Buba Sanyang and Seedy Touray, The Immigration Department beat the KMC team by one goal to nil.
Speaking in a brief interview with The Point shortly after the game the Deputy Director General of the Immigration Department said the aim of the event was to foster mutual understanding among the sister forces. On behalf of his boss he thanked Mr. Akram Shour of no1 sport shop for providing the Banjul male veteran team with a set of jersey’s and socks.
“He should be commended for contributing his quota towards the development of sports in the country and all the officers who contributed towards the success of the event,” he concluded.
