GFA Release List of Proposed U-17 National Team

The list of the Proposed U-17 national team squad has been released following a nationwide U-17 Selection tournament which was held last December.

The 58 players who were selected during the nationwide selection tournament, according to the GFA President Seedy MB Kinteh, will all report to the Independence Stadium on March 1st 2008  where the final screening process will take place .  The Screening is expected to be conducted by the Egyptian Technical Assistant Tarik Siagy.

According to Seedy, after the final screening of players, the stage will be set for preparations for the U-17 Championship slated for 2009 in Nigeria.

He said the nationwide selection process will be a continuous one which will be held on annually to ensure a fair representation of players.

It will be recalled that The Gambia U-17 team, who were the African Champions of the 2005 CAF Championship held in Banjul, failed to defend the title two years later, which was held in Togo 2007.

They failed in the qualifiers to neighbours Senegal.
