Steve Biko and Wallidan will lock horns today in the final tie of the Week One fixtures in the GFA Division One League. The eye-watering clash at the Sea View ground housed at the Independence Stadium, Bakau, will no doubt be an ordinary match - thanks to the intense rivalry that exists between the two giants.
The long-standing player rows between the two sides mean that Steve Biko and Wallidan remain bitter rivals both on and off the pitch.
The Bakau club stand accused of snatching two Wallidan players, before eventually making millions of dalasis out their sales to the professional leagues in Europe.
The Banjul club were claiming from Steve Biko, a considerable development fee from Mustapha Jarjue’s transfer fee to SK Lierse and the situation turned from bad to worse when adamant Biko sold another former Wallidan player in Ebrima Sohna to a Norwegian club with the Banjul club gaining Nothing.
The special task force committee set up by the national football’s governing body to investigate Sohna’s saga had submitted its report to the Football Association with the two clubs now awaiting Football Association’s final verdict.
