Speaking earlier, the principal of Nasir Ahmadiyya Muslim Senior Secondary School, Mr. Mamadi Ceesay, said that Nasir was established in October 1983 with a total enrolment of 83 students of which only eight 8 were girls. It was the first high school in the region and supported the government by increasing access to formal education to the people in the area.

For the past decade the school has enjoyed infrastructural development and academic improvement and student enrolment increased to 960 of which 360 are girls.
He then commended the teachers and stakeholders for their untiring support to the school.
Asanatou Jallow, the head girl of the school, in her vote of thanks, commended the teachers for their hard work and the good will they have for the school and the students. She then renewed her assurance to the teachers that they will continue working hard and maintain a high sense of discipline at all times.
The celebration was marked by a volleyball competition between the students, teachers and the town team, which attracted thousands of spectators.
