Barrow Kunda Community Embarks on Cleansing Exercise

The people of Wuli Barrow Kunda in the Upper River Region on Saturday 8th November 2008 embarked on massive cleansing exercise in the village. The exercise, which lasted for hours, was punctuated with drumming and dancing. Addressing the participants at the end of the exercise, Mr. Mamadi Sidibeh Tostan, facilitator in the village, thanked the participants for actively participating in the exercise. He described last Saturday’s cleansing as the most successful exercise since the beginning of the rainy season.

Amadou Jallow, community health nurse (CHN), said that cleanliness is next to good health. He encouraged the community to keep cleaning their environment. Mrs. Mr. Fatoumatta Kebbeh expressed her satisfaction with the high turnout at the exercise.

Other speakers included VDC Chairman Mr. Karamo Touray. The event was graced by the Alkalo of the village Foday Barrow.
