President mother impressed with farming activities

The mother of the Gambian leader, Aja Fatou Asombi Bojang, has told reporters of her impressive feeling of the intensive farming activities undertaken by her son, President Jammeh.

She said that his commitment and dedication to farming was not a surprise to her, and that the Gambian Head of State had inherited this spirit of hardwork from his father, who was himself an exemplary father. She then recalled that the president has been very industrious since his younger days.

President Jammeh’s mother was speaking to reporters at her native village of Bouginka in Foni Kansala, over the weekend.

Aja Asombi Bojang called on the people of The Gambia to work hard, for hardwork pays more dividend.  She also told reporters that her son’s clarion call for people to go back to the land was not only for his benefit, but for the interest of the entire nation.

Aware of the fact that hunger constitutes a real threat to human survival, the president mother urged people to venture into agriculture in order to contain the threat of the menace.

Meanwhile, hundreds of women within the Foni districts, on Saturday, descended on a vast cultivated land of groundnut farm belonging to the president mother,   in   Bouginka.

The women on the farm were found busy threshing the nuts for bagging purposes. According to them, work on Aja Fatou Asombi Bojang’s groundnut farm has been going on since the last few weeks.

Meanwhile, later in the day, the Daily Observer crew proceeded to another Nerica rice farm belonging to President Jammeh, located in Somita village, Foni Berefet district.  At the time of the visit, the women who dominated the work force on the farm had already made tremendous efforts to cultivate rice.

They expressed their continuous resolve to work on the president’s farm, describing him as a leader who is committed to eradicate  hunger in the country.
