Police Officers Charged with Corruption

Two police officers Omar Drammeh and Ebrima Mboob were yesterday charged and arraigned before Principal Magistrate Edrissa Mbai of the Banjul Magistrates’ Court on a charge of “official corruption”.

The duo where charged with official corruption contrary to section 86 (a) of the criminal code cap10 Volume III laws of The Gambia 1990.

According to the particulars of the offence, the two accused persons Omar Drammeh and Ebrima Mboob on or about 5thOctober 2008 at Banjul and diverse places corruptly received, solicited or obtained sum amounts of D1000, D1500 and D5000 respectively from one Mr Adama Chorr. They both denied the charge.

Meanwhile they were each granted court bail in the sum of D10, 000 with a Gambian surety.

The case was adjourned until 29thOctober 2008.
