President Jammeh Pardons Aji Yama Njie

Tuesday, January 22, 2008

President Alhaji Yaya Jammeh on Friday reversed the expulsion resolution of Aji Yama Njie and accepted her back to the party as a full party militant, says a press statement.

According to the release from the APRC Secretariat, this decision was influenced by numerous and overwhelming appeals from ‘genuine, sincere and loyal’ APRC militants to accept her back.

“In recognition of this day-Yowmul Ashura- His Excellency cannot but today grant the wishes of the majority of the party militants. In consideration of this day, Ms Njie is forgiven of whatever she might have done wrong,” the release concluded.

It would be recalled that President Jammeh last week expelled Aji Yama Njie and Bakary B. Darboe, who was nominated as the APRC candidate for Bakau New Town/Fajara ward of Bakau constituency from the party.

In a separate development, this paper has reliably learnt that the four arrested relations of the UDP-sponsored candidate for Karantaba ward, Ebrima Touray, were released without charge. The quartet was arrested by the police on Tuesday in Karantaba Tabokoto but were released on Friday.
