Margaret Hampton from the West Midlands in England has returned once again to The Gambia to renew old friendships with staff and pupils at the Agi Bah School in Bakau.
Margaret and others have been raising funds for the school’s building program for the last four years and the building is expected to be completed very soon.
She has organised several money raising events over the last several months including a charity walk accompanied by her husband and 82-year old mother, Edith. Margaret was especially pleased by the sum raised by Mrs Julie Bellingham, manageress of Old Vicarage, a local Old People Care home.
Margaret works as a receptionist for travel agents CO-OP Travel Direct. They have kindly donated 100.00 pound sterling of the total 550.00 pound sterling. Margaret would also like to thank Mr Tony Evans, who kindly arranged with Thomas Cook Airline for increased baggage allowance for the flight to Banjul.
The headmistress, Mrs Jallow, expressed her sincere gratitude to Margaret for all her hard work and dedication to the task.
