The Deputy Speaker of the National Youth Parliament, Hon. Maimuna Sarr, recently, returned from Germany where she attended the TUNZA 2007 International Youth Conference.
The TUNZA organized under the auspices of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), took place at Leverkusen, Germany, from 26 to 30 August 2007 and brought together one hundred and fifty young people from around the world.
The conference focused on the importance of environmental issues of the present generation including technology and the environment, with special focus on climate change.
According to a media release from the National Youth Parliament, the conference provided participants the opportunity to learn from one another, share experiences and ideas on community-based environmental actions and to develop joint strategies on promoting environmental protection in their respective countries.
Honorable Sarr also took part in a preparatory meeting for African Youth delegates earlier in Kenya before proceeding to Germany.
As part of the program, Hon Sarr participated in a series of tree planting exercises in both Germany and Kenya.
