Mr. Malick Jones, Principal Producer at the Gambia Radio and Television Services, and Mr Mam Sait Ceesay, Press Officer at State House, were yesterday arraigned before Magistrate B.Y. Camara of the Banjul Magistrates’ Court.
The two were charged with communication of code of words contrary to section 4 (1) of the Official Security Act cap. 1701 of 1990.
The particulars of offence stated that between 5th and 7th September 2007 in the city of Banjul, the accused persons communicated or gave information to a foreign journalist, noting that the act is harmful to the security of the state.
Both accused persons vehemently denied the charge before being granted a bail bond in the sum of D200,000 each with Gambian national as surety who had to deposit his title deed to the court.
