Slip Free Banking, GeNS, Swift mailer Introduced

In its determined effort to continue to ensure further convenience to the Gambian Banking public and improve efficiency of service as well as safety of customers’ funds, Guaranty Trust Bank (Gambia) Limited, has introduced three additional services to its wide array of bouquet of services in The Gambia. These new services are Slip - Free Banking, Guaranty Trust Bank Electronic Notification Service (GeNS) and GTBank Swift Mailer service.  All the three services are novel in the Gambian banking market, unique to GTBank and free for all customers of the bank.

The Slip – Free banking is a service array that combines the three key customers focused elements of Convenience, Safety and Freedom. Slip – Free is a process that allows all GTBank customers make cash deposits and cash withdrawals without the hassles of filling out deposit and withdrawal slips. For cash deposits, all that is now required is for the depositor to approach our tellers, handover the cash to him/her, the cash is counted, entries are made and a receipt is issued to the depositor detailing amount deposited, currency denomination, name of depositor, date of deposit etc.

For savings account customers, the process cuts off the burden of filling withdrawal slips. The customer goes to a teller, identifies him/her self, indicate the amount to withdraw, payment is made to him/her and a receipt is issued for him to sign accordingly. In both cases, this innovative process takes the burden of filling withdrawal or deposits slip away from the customer, while guaranteeing safety of funds and unlimited freedom.

The GTBank Electronic Notification Service (GeNS) enables the customer to make tomorrow’s financial decision now as it provides ‘’on line real time’’ notification and instant details of transactions on customers accounts to them. This service is designed to generate and send out notification prompts to customers via electronic mail and SMS whenever there is a transaction on their account(s).

GeNS ensures that customers have real time knowledge of transactions on their accounts. The notification is designed to be detailed providing adequate information on the debit / credit transactions instant and immediate as they occur.

The third in the row is the GTBank Swift Mailer which is designed to take away from the customer the burden of chasing their bankers or visiting the bank for telegraphic (telex) copies or evidence of foreign currency transfers. The service is designed to forward to customers’ electronic mail addresses, telex copies of foreign currency transfers instant, on line and real time as soon as the transfer is executed by GTBank.

Swift Mailer service ensures that a message appears in the customer electronic mail address with an attachment containing the telex copy of the transfer. The customer can just print a copy for his records and if necessary, forward the mail to his overseas supplier.

In the words of the Managing Director of the bank, Mr. Lekan Sanusi, ‘’all these additional services are free of charge to all customers of the bank. They are our additional ways of improving our service delivery capabilities to guarantee further convenience to our highly esteemed customers. Further more, they are all novel in this environment and are unique to GTBank, in our resolve to ensure that we remain that innovative institution that our customers are proud of. Our promise is that we would not relent in our efforts at pushing the frontiers of service that would further guarantee convenience, freedom and safety of our customers’ interests’’.

Guaranty Trust Bank (Gambia) Ltd., which started operations on the 5th March 2002, is a subsidiary of GTBank plc, whose shares was recently listed on the London Stock Exchange, and remains today, the first African bank to be listed on the exchange.

GTBank Gambia is reputed to have the fastest rate of branch expansion in The Gambia and is rated by industry watchers as the third largest bank in The Gambia based on published 2006 balance sheet size of banks in the country. In addition to its magnificent Head Office situated at Kairaba Avenue, there are four (4) branches located in Banjul, Serrekunda, Brikama and Senegambia.  Two additional branches are under construction in Kanifing and Serrekunda markets respectively.

The bank offers a wide range of innovative and customer-friendly products and services, including GTSave, Smart Kid Save, GTB Bankers’ Acceptance, Statement by E- Mail, E- Banking service, SMS banking etc. These three new services are add-ons to the existing services.
