96 Gambians Deported from Spain

Wednesday, July 25, 2007

Information reaching our office yesterday has it that a group of 96 Gambians have been deported from the kingdom of Spain.

Our sources at the Banjul International Airport told The Point that the men flown into Banjul on board a Europe Airline plane landed at the Banjul International Airport at about 13:37 pm local time.

Unlike the aftermath of the deportation of some 37 deportees that vandalised properties of GCAA some time last year, our sources disclosed that yesterday’s arrivals conducted themselves well.

They however reportedly appeared grief-stricken to a point that some of them broke down in tears. Clutching their scant possessions contained in plastic bags and school bags, the deportees were received by the Immigration and the Police Intervention Unit (PIU).
