Alhagie Marong, alias Dageh, was a member of the coaching staff of Gambia National U-17 team from 2006-2007 as goal keeper trainer.
In 2003 he was appointed by The Gambia Football Association as a Regional Coach in CRR, while he was also coaching Western Region in both Football and Volleyball.
Born in January 20, 1970 in Banjul, Marong attended the world Volleyball military games in Italy (Rome) in 1995 and in 2005 he represented The Gambia on Volleyball Zone II and also attended a Volleyball SAP high level course in 2000 in Dakar.
From 1992 to 1998 he served as goalkeeper for the Armed Forces football team and also coached the team in the national first division League from 1998 to 2001.
Alhagie Marong has undergone training courses on Basic coaching training run by FIFA and Olympic Solidarity, advanced soccer coaching Futuro II FIFA and Coca Cola Educational programme and Sport Administration.
He attended Brikama Primary School in 1979 to 1984 and Brikama Secondary School from 1984 to 1988.
He joined The Gambia National Army on 2nd January 1989 passed out the same year and later joined the Ecomog peace-keeping mission to Liberia in 1991 to 1992.
In 2001 he resigned voluntarily as a corporal from The Gambia National Army and was later employed as a Sports Officer and Security Guard by Kairaba Beach Hotel in 2002.
When asked what were his major achievements during his tenure as CRR Sports Coordinator, he said he has succeeded in leading Bansang to win a trophy in Basse and his region also won a trophy in NACONF 2004 in Banjul.
“I have also succeeded in breeding a lot of young footballers within the region,” he explained.
