A cause for concern

I wish to congratulate the acting Mayor of the KMC on his recent elevation at the Council. However, as a resident of the municipality, it is my duty to bring to your attention some of the things happening in New Jeshwang, where I am residing.

The environment is very unhealthy and this threatens the health of residents. It is also common to see people throwing refuses in the streets.

People drill holes at the root of their fences to pour stinky refuse in the streets at the inconvenience of passers-by. Some dig drains in the streets only to cover them with rusty corrugate sheets and rotten wood or sticks, which make passage extremely difficult for the people.

This has become an acceptable phenomenon. I have been studying this for over a year now.

In New Jeshwang, one can walk for a long distance without seeing a public stand-tap. But it is also one of the areas, where water is wasted. In many of the streets, one can see water leaking out from NAWEC’s underground pipes for months, as if no one cares.
