DRC: Tens of thousands displaced in renewed fighting in North Kivu

KINSHASA Thursday, November 06, 2008 (IRIN) - Tens of thousands of internally displaced people (IDPs) fled fresh fighting on 6 November between the army and fighters loyal to renegade general, Laurent Nkunda, in two areas of North Kivu, eastern Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), just as aid workers had started distributing relief aid, UN sources told IRIN.
