The head coach of Ghana Under 20 team, Sellas Tetteh, is hoping to build on Black Satellites’ opening win in the West Africa Football Union (Wafu) tournament which kicked off on Friday in Nigeria.
Goals from Evans Quao and Dominic Adiyah handed the Ghana a 2-0 victory over Senegal that sees them jump top of Group B, which also feature Gambia and Guinea. Despite the win, Sellas Tetteh is hoping to see an improved performance as Ghana get ready for the next game against Guinea today at the Jay Jay Okocha Stadium.
A Guinea win would assure Ghana of a place in the next round of the competition and coach Tetteh is optimistic of garnering the three points.
Ghana were drawn in Group B with Senegal, Guinea and Gambia.
Having fielded some new faces in his team for the opener, the Ghana coach remains hopeful that the Black Satellites would gel in the other games.
According to the competition rules, the first two clubs from each group after the round-robin will progress to the quarterfinals, with the winners advancing to the semi final, which is scheduled for December 8.
Meanwhile, Nigeria's Flying Eagles will confirm their place in the quarterfinal stage if they beat Benin Republic in a tie that was in progress at the time of filing this story.
Last night’s tie was Nigeria’s last Group A match in the absence of Guinea Bissau, who did not show up for the tourney.
