Abduction case Accused to open defense

Ukanwa Ikech Ukwa and  Benjamin George ( both Nigerians) and Fatou Sarr, a Gambian, who are standing trial on conspiracy and adduction are to open their defense on March 16 before Magistrate Jobe of the Bundung Magistrates Court.

The trio was accused of abducting one Abdoulie Wazzi in Brusubi for two days in November last year. They are said to have asked him to pay D100,000 as a ransom for his freedom. When the accused issued a cheque to them they attempted to cash it but in the process, were arrested by the police.

After the last witness, Inspector Darboe, ended his testimony yesterday, the prosecutor, ASP Jahateh, told the court that he would rest his case. At that juncture, the presiding magistrate adjourned the case to 16 March for the accused persons to open their defense.
